Sonic Maps- The Bats
Sonic Maps - The Bats is a sound installation of a mobius tape loop being played through three cassette players. The tape flips gradually from one cassette player to the next continually changing the arrangement of the sounds. The sound of bats is recorded on one side of the tape loop and on the other side are found melodic sounds. The tape loop length is based on the measurement of time it takes for a bat's call to bounce off the objects in the space allowing it to create a map for flying. The sound is played through mono speakers which are above head height, allowing for the bat noises to bounce and sound around the room in the air.
